I WANT TO REMEMBER YOU LIKE THIS

Young, carefree, unafraid.

I want to remember you like this so that I can remind you of who you truly are. Before the world and your experiences try to tell you who they need you to be.

Remember you are brave. Brave and kind.

I want to remember you like this so that when the weight of the world tries to make itself a home on your shoulders, you’ll know to shrug it off and tell it that it has no place with you. It is not welcome.

Remember you and strong. Strong and gentle.

Gentle enough to love others out of their pain, but strong enough to know when not to.

Remember you are powerful. But you weren’t meant to carry the world’s weight. It’s a burden we share, not one we try to manage on our own.

I want to remember you like this. Free and unapologetic of who you are.

So that when the world and others would have you apologize because that’s what makes them comfortable, you’ll be reminded that once, what others thought of you meant nothing, and that what you thought of you meant everything, and always will.

Remember you are loving.

Loving and accepting of everyone, unencumbered by selfish agendas and motives. So that if that’s all you see, and God forbid, perhaps even experience, you’ll know there’s a better way to live, to love.

I want to remember you like this, how you move, the way you laugh so freely, your silliness, the way you love so boldly and unapologetically.

I’ll gladly spend my life reminding you of these things. My beautiful, wonderful girls.

Mamma loves you xx
